Default Silvers within an hour of Anchorage for beginners

For any of you Anchoraguans who want some silvers, here's a hint. Drive past Bird and head to Portage. Take a canoe or raft. Stop when you see the fish boiling

For the kids, the humpy fishing in Glacier Creek is going off right now. My 3 YO hammered humpies during a lunch/visitation on the way back from the peninsula.

    Good times!

Sounds fun Regarding Glacier Creek, is that the one just past Girdwood? Any tips on where to park or access the creek?

    Thanks,

There is a spot right by the bridge over the Seward.

Chuck, I'm sending you a pic of Eli's first humpy of the year. He asked, "Why is the humpy angry?" The flopping bothered him.

No grey, Glacier Creek is the one flowing out of Girdwood. There is a small pullout just past the Tesoro on the left.

Glacier Creek isn't really that good of a silver stream. It's great for humpies for the kids. The kings should not be targetted as the return is small.

Portage creek is a good bet. It takes a bit of time to find the fish but once you know where they are, fish on!
