Default Question about twist rate in 350 REM MAG

I have been thinking about getting a Remington Model Seven CDL in a 350. I was looking at Remington's website and noticed that they list a 22" barrel witha 1:16 twist discontinued, while the newer model has a 20" barrel and a 1:10 twist. The 1:10 seems rather fast for a .358 bullet, unless they did this solely for their 200 gr factory load. Any thoughts on this? Am I missing something?

Barnes 200-gr works well in the fast twist. I have a 350 and 200-gr is what I use mostly. Also use the 185-gr Hornaday, which gives me more speed and greater down range results. I think the 1-20 twist is an improvement over the old barrel, I have them both. The 200 and 185 gr bullets work fine and will do evrything you need them to do.

I've had a 35 whelen ackley with a 1-14 twist, and my 350 rem mag (ruger) is a 1-12 twist.

Unless you're planning on using it primarily for shooting cast bullets (and 1-10 isn't terribly fast), I've never found a faster twist to be a detriment to accuracy or overall performance, if anything I prefer a faster twist. I'd definately go with a 1-10 over a 1-16. The only real reason I could see for a 1-10 is the 310 gr woodleigh bullets, but it should still shoot 200's, 225's, and 250's just fine.

Thanks for the feedback. I think a little model seven in a 350 would be a pretty awesome package.
