    Question Herters 338 dia

Hey guys need a bit of reloading info .
I have a couple boxes of Herters 338 265 Grain Round nose bullets I would like to work up some loads in.
I have looked through the search engine on this site and no luck and I have checked my old reloading manuals
and have come up blank .
Anyone have any loads for such a bullet ??

I did find some loads for a 275 grain SPBT and that would get me in the ball park.

    Thanks

    RR

I found some 250 gr round nose .358 caliber Herter's at a gun show last winter. They shoot exceptionally well out of my 350 rem mag. They were supposedly made by Norma back in the day. I hope to try them on game this fall. Good luck with those big pills. You might try some load data for the old 275 gr Speer to get you started.

Hodgdon's web pages lists some 275 grain Speer Soft point loads. http://data.hodgdon.com/cartridge_load.asp

Handloads.com Lists one load for a 265 grain soft point, no bullet make given. 66.5 of IMR 4350

Reloaders Nest Lists a number of 275 grain loads as well.

    Default 38 Herters

Herters 338 Bullets were made for tube fed lever actions such as 38/56 and other guns. Data is 36 Grns. of IMR 3031. Matches ball. of Lyman flat nose 265 data.
