Default dipnetting this saturday before close the kenai

I have never been dipnetting and wanted to try it, but dont know if its worth going down to the kenai and where to go to dipnet at the kenai? before it closes saturday night? i have a couple dipnets and chest waiters, would be taking the wife and our 1.5 year old kid so i would like to be kinda knowing what im doing and hopefully there is still fish there, what do you guys guess? should we try it or say to heck with it tell next year or go to kasilof since thats a week later?

I would give it a shot, besides the city of Kenai could use your donation to the beach cause.
If a dipnetter dips a fish and there is no one around to see/hear it, Did he really dip?

Dude, are you talking North or south shore. If you have a small camper, I would recomend the north shore, Kenai. Just park in the lot and follow the crowds to the beach. It is only drop off or pick up at the beach site. Drop your gear by the beach and then go back and park in the lot. Walk back to your gear and start dipping.
I should be down there with a boat so Pm me your cell phone number cause I might need another net in the water, by boat, to balance the boat out. You could luck out, depending on who might back out with me cause of work. You never know?

Fish counts have been low the last couple of days but the OTF was 104 on Mon. and 130 yesterday -- hoping this means that we're in the "dip" b/w the two usual peaks right now and the reds will be hitting the mouth hard by Friday.

South side is sand and can get very deep until you get to the wet sand (below high tide line), I wouldn't recommend pulling a trailer as I've seen way too many people stuck trying to pull trailers there (even big lifted trucks).

The only option for parking and then walking is North Shore.
You can park by the toll booth at South Shore, but the walk with all gear/fish is just not practical - too far away to the mouth.
