Friend just called, spent the night down there, said it's still really slow in the clear water of the Russian.

Sounds like just about perfect timing for my trip. I will be on Cooper Landing for the week of Aug 1 to 6. To my knowledge, I have never eaten red salmon. I want mine as fresh fillets for the grill please (I HATE CANNED SALMON).

No, the canned salmon hates you!

But you should be in for some great fishing.

Clearwater dead, saw 1 fish walked from confluence up to Red Salmon. Not worth the drive this weekend, IMO

I was hoping that some of that slug of reds would have hit the upper river by now. Oh well, time hit the last of the king season. Tight lines.

We floated down from lower of Skilak yesterday just past the bird santuary and got into a few reds headed for the Russian/Ferry. My guess is we the large slug of reds headed upstream has not yet made it to ths part of river yet.

I hope they hold off for long enough for me to get down there without people
I choose to fly fish, not because its easy, but because its hard.

when it comes to the russian, people are just a part of deal.
you can be like alot of people and just not go, or you can be like me.(put up with the people and ad to your freezer)

trust me, i pay for fishing the kenai. weather its the 140 dollar fishpond vest that was stollen from me by some idiot while cleaning my catch, or the pure frustration i feel when untangling my line from some other persons.again I PAY FOR IT$$$$$$$$$$$
