    Default Crash?

Saw a helo with an airplane as a slingload coming out of the knick glacier area on Saturday. Hope everyone is OK. Anyone know what happened?

Heard on the radio that a 172 or 170 crashed up on the glacier somewhere. Three people were rescued and ok.

It was our (Aeroclub) 172... an older but sweet girl with a nice payload. I was supposed to fly her the next day. There were three fellows aboard and all were alright. The glacier outclimbed the pilot and they ended upside-down. It seems as though there is no engine or prop damage, only structural. Left wing split, tail GONE. HOWEVER, no matter the damage, the guys were alright!!!

Really glad to hear the good Lord was looking after them. Are you saying that it was strictly pilot error?

Never fly up a glacier, always start high and fly down-hill.
Even an MH60 PaveHawk with nearly 4,000 shaft horsepower can get into a bind with the downflow of cold air from the upper ice-field.
