Default What do you think? First Salmon Fly...

This was my first attempt at tying a Popsicle. I'm an ameteur fly-tier at best. What do you think?

I like it, good tie. It is fish purtty. What hook did you use? After a silver grabs it they will tear it up. Tight lines.

Thanks! I used a Gamakatsu Tapered looped up eye size 4. Never fly fished for silvers before but I'm really looking forward to trying. My only salmon experience in Alaska has been on the Russian.

Beautiful fly! Nicely done. Try a couple also in white/chartreuse and blue/black.

I just love marabou flies for silvers. That pulsating movement in the water is tough to beat. True that they'll get tore up, but that's part of the fun (and a good reason to tie some more!)

Beauty! Action and contrast both, which Silvers supposedly love.

Thanks guys, still working on getting it down, making sure there isn't too much space between the back of the conhead and the maribou is difficult. And making sure the maribou drapes down over the sides to cover the body is tough too. I'll make sure and tie some in many colors.

Hey Chuck, I can give it a whirl on Thursday if you want to see it in action, but hey I probably can't catch them all on it! LOL!

Its a work of art! I tied a few last winter, crudely done, but caught rainbows with them in the spring
