from the Fairbanks paper:
“There’s a ton of them,” Dave Cobb, manager for the Valdez Fisheries Development Association, said on Wednesday. “There’s a lot of fish over at Allison Point and a lot of people have been catching them in the small boat harbor.”
The hatchery has finished its cost recovery program and commercial fishermen have been netting pinks this week, Cobb said. The pink run won’t peak for another week or two, so fishing should be good for the next two weeks, he said.
The fish are bright and weigh an average of about 3 1/2 pounds, Cobb said. Bright-colored Pixees are the lure of choice for anglers.
