I was out there yesterday. I didn't see anybody catch anything and the wind got way too tough by evening to fish with my 4 year old.

What's the most effective way of catching reds at JC? With such little current, doesn't seem like flipping would produce much.

In past years, my only action with the sockeye there has been a few accidental snags while casting hardware for silvers.

Apperently the way to catch reds at Jim is to have legendary awsome fly technique, a small red fly, and alot of luck.

a freind used MY Fly, with his fly rod and expertly walked upriver following a red going up stream casting a dozen times in quick succsion, each time placing the fly about a foot in front of the reds mouth. Finally got it in and hooked and landed it.

    it was awsome to watch.

and totally beyond my skill level.

no-one else caught anything... reds are swiming through in ones and twos every 10 min or so. mostly out in the silty water, but occationally they will come in closer. lots of dollies jumping out in the silt it appears
