Default Delta Clearwater 10 July 2010 Report

Big Cox, Jedi, myself and 2 other friends took to Clearwater this weekend. The weather was sunny for the most part and it was truly a beautiful weekend to be on the water. The Grays were in full force as they made their way up the river as they do this time of year. There were many holes that held between 15 - 20 hawgs. The fish were mostly hitting on drys, but the occasion one would hit a Prince Nymph beadhead. I had most of my luck on #12 Blue Duns as recommended to me by Big Cox and the Jedi. My group (3 of us) managed about 60 fish in about 10 hours of fishing; not bad considering most of the fish were over 14". I'm sure Jedi and Cox will chime in with their report and photos/video, but here a couple of mine:

    Default Beauty!

Nice grayling(s)! Thanks for the fishing report, I was thinking about heading up towards the interior and getting in to the grays. Have you heard anything about the little nelchina? I was fishing willow creek today and got into some trout and some grayling further upstream nothing great, but it was a good day of fishing!

Yeah fishing was pretty badass! It always seems to be slow in the mornings, I think the grayling like to sleep in or something....
I couldn't seem to get the fish to rise until a little later in the morning, but it definitely picked up in the afternoon. I tried a beadhead early in the morning, but quickly switched back to a dry fly, its just not as exciting as seeing one rise to your fly. The water was boiling with risers at times. Definitely will always be worth the drive from Anchorage.

Here are the rest of my photos. We caught many more fish than those pictured, I'm just pretty anal about my photography, so only a select few make the cut.

    Good photos you took....yea ok

You know how anal I am about the videos....None of your photos made the cut

As soon as I get your king salmon footage, when we fished together for kings in the valley, I can put you in the king video...still holding off for you footage to complete that one.
