    Smile Bear kills

I wanted any info guys have on bear kills. I walked into two last Fall and one appeared recent. It was in a thick area next to a trail with torn up moss, bones, and tons of rancid blood. I needed to go up the trail as it was too thick to go around. I thought of hunting the kill, but the woods were too thick. So I got through the area quickly and did not see the bear, thank goodness as it would have been a close encounter. Hiking back I made a lot of noise and again got through the area. So any knowledge on these? Do bears hang there or come back to visit often? Any way to tell bear from wolf? Make noise or quietly sneak through? Any way to tell how fresh fairly quickly?
I come home with an honestly earned feeling that something good has taken place. It makes no difference whether I got anything, it has to do with how the day was spent. Fred Bear

Was it a pile of fur? Anything buried in a mound or drag marks? You were lucky either way.
