I am thinking King and the white on the gums is more an effect of the underwater lighting than the actual coloration. But I am not a fish-ologist...

The stark white lip-liner is absolutely real.

As are the big jagged spots.

Looks like a silver because of the jaw and white gums. Although, the markings on the back are very similar to a king. I say Silver...

I say King b/c of the markings on the back of the fish. Can't tell about the mouth because of the lighting underwater.

I also say king because of the big black spots on the back.

    Just curious....

Do we have any enforcement folks as members of this board?

Would be interesting to hear your perspective(s) on identifying this mystery fish.

    King or silver?

What if it's BOTH? I realize it's not very likely to happen in AK where kings are almost exclusively a spring/summer run fish that spawn much earlier than fall run coho. But in the PNW and the Great Lakes, fall chinook are actually much more common, with spawn timing that completely overlaps that of coho. Coho-chinook hybrids have been identified in a number of river systems.

Check out this "co-nook" from the Great Lakes region. Looks just like the head of a silver stuck on the body of a king.
