Default Pink Salmon? Valdez or Hope?

July 4th weekend coming up and my daughters want to go fishing...we have caught pinks in Valdez and Hope on the 4th of July weekend in the past.

Anybody seen or heard of any pinks at either location yet?

    Default Pinks

I was out yesterday as far as Bligh Reef and only saw a few jumpers. The seiners are staged and ready to release their havoc on the fish. It should be any time. Jedi read my valdez report. I am, thinking of changing the boat reservation to august are you in? I want to get the good silvers and go get the lings I released.

I'll be in Hope either tonight or tomorrow to finish some business, I might just drive down to the bridge and see if there are any early fish.

I would guess it's still a week or two early for pinks. When they are in, it is the 2nd most fun I've had fishing in Alaska. No combat fishing, fish on every cast, and a family friendly atmosphere.

I was in Sitka a few years back working and had a huge spot all to myself every night after work and have experienced the exact same thing.
50 to 60 fish every night after work.
It was bar none the best fishing I have ever had.

It's pretty much just flossing. So, you could tie anything to a hook.

What ever crap fly you have left over that you never use. Im serious. There are so many fish in there that if you dont get one to "bite" you will floss a half dozen more in the drift. Coho's beat up ESL's anything big and ugly you have not used in forever. Anything you look into your flybox and go "what the hell did I buy that for"

Valdez is a better bet right now Jedi. Still a no show for pinks like it was a couple of years ago when I met you and smiley. Kill 2 birds with one stone. Klutina then Valdez

I have been in Hope various years and yes some years the pinks are in good number on the 1st week of July. Wading up the creek and dead drifting an ESL can be deadly.
