Thread: Lake trout in deep holes

Default Lake trout in deep holes

Just wondering what works well (lures, bait, etc.) for pulling lakers out of the deep holes in lakes (50+ feet.) I've always had good luck trolling spoons and other diving lures, but those don't really get down to the deep spots. Any suggestions?

It seems white jigs with some sort of bait on them seem to work for the Lower 48 guys. I just googled that

LaRrge white jigs w glo paint tail feathers and bait. Jig right at the bottom bounce the bottom every so often so you know the current isn't pulling you up. For bait we used laker belly or smelt. If the lake is deep enough you can use downriggers. Good luck

Where are you finding Lakers in 50+ foot of water? Especially this time of year. Today they were at 18+/-5 FOW.
