    Default Chitina fishing and Floating

I am floating with a couple of people from McCarthy to Chitina. I know the water is dark and glacial but, are there any places that have clear water to catch grayling or trout. Any spots to catch a salmon on a fly rod? Just wanna know if I should pack a few poles. Thanks for any info.

Yes. Several clear water streams along the way, and they do have salmon runs in them; probably trout, etc. too. But they also have large runs of brown and black bears too. I stop during the day to fish and fill water jugs, but I don't camp around them. I'm sure others do, but why invite trouble?

Have caught greyling there. And to back up the advice Jim gave, huge bear tracks around most clear type streams. I would not camp there either.

    Default thanks

Thanks for the info. I will throw my rods on the raft and try my luck at catching a few fish. And Ill keep my camps far from the clear water streams to keep the chance of bear altercation to a minimum. Thanks again
