    Default Salmon/Halibut Whittier?

When is a good time to fish Whittier for salmon and halibut? Whats better Eshmay lagoon or Esther fish hatchery? How far out do I need to go for Halibut(not necessarily big ones)?

    Thanks!

what type of salmon are you targeting? That will determine the best time.

Reds and Chum. Easy catching fish so the wife and kids can have some fun.

You know, in my experience it's easier to catch silvers and pinks in PWS than reds and chums. There are some great spots for reds (Coghill River, Jackpot Bay) and chums (Esther Hatchery), but I consistently catch silvers by trolling and pinks in just about any stream out there. Both can be had in great numbers from mid-July until late August.

Thanks for the info, I didn't even think about pinks. Been out of state too long! Do you fish the river its self or just the waters surrounding the mouth?
