They usually CLOSE the trail for everything when the bears are about. I'm not sure that bear hunting there is an option.

I remember reading a letter in the newspaper from a guy who came up from outside to hunt there, having learned on a previous trip there were a lot of bears in the area. He wasn't able to hunt there, because it was closed.

I'd check the regulations on the hunting, but I'm pretty sure the trail will be closed, and you wouldn't be able to use it for access.

Lots of bears (both) in July and August chasing kings just upstream of the highway. Lots of bears.

Lots of bears indeed. However, the brush is extremely thick. That might be an understatement.

It is an understatement indeed, Matt. Sometimes you can smell the bears on that creek and not see them. I have seen a couple over the years on the creek though.

If I was wanting to hunt it, I would fish the creek with a rifle slung. Best chance to SEE a bear if you ask me..

Dont forget you need a tag to harvest a brown bear in the state park even in unit 16.

    Default Yep

A buddy of mine shot one on the confluence; nice big sow griz a couple of years ago. Has both blacks and browns... Good Luck.
