Default Do you think it's possible..

... for someone to go into another persons bait site, steal most of the bait, sabotage the area (i.e. human scent) and remove pics from the trail cam. The camera at my station has captured moose eating. That's it. 19-25 pictures of trees and moose. Not a single bear. At my buddies station, he had 3 pictures and nothing on them but trees. Not a single bear for either of us all season? We know there is another guy who has a station out a bit further than ours who said he has had bears at his station. I hope he isn't sabotaging ours. I would hate to have to get mean. Any ideas?

    Thanks,
    H

Do you think anyone would even consider going to all that trouble? I mean seriously...

Heres a novel idea.....move to a new spot if you are so worried

Maybe its just your camera? I know on my cam it doesnt take pics of alot of things, even when the bear is right at the barrel in front of the cam it will not take pics sometimes. I think I have mine hung to high, because it seems like I would have more pics but I usually end up with only a few. But I know there is plenty of bear activity going on...I wouldnt think anyone would go through the trouble to steal the bait and delete pics etc..seems out there. Maybe theres a ghost?? Any graves nearby?

Seems like a lot of work for somebody to sabotage to that degree. Is you scent getting into the wind for the critters to smell it??

I don't really know if anyone would go to all the trouble. I wouldn't. Some people have ALOT more time than I do. As to your 'Novel Idea' it's too late in the season to be moving...seriously. This is the first year I've ever baited and was just looking for some ideas.

Yeah it would be a lot of work. But if the guy down from us has nothing better to do and wanted to deter us from getting a bear....people have done stranger things. Our scent could be lingering somehow but we do use a scent killer.

    Thanks for your input though.

I doubt it. I think it's more likely that there just aren't any bears coming in or your camera is broken.

Slow trigger speed on your camera. But you still probably don't have black bears coming in if your bait is not gone. Get a Baitem907 Scent Ball and if that doesn't bring them in nothing will.

I've had two of them ripped down lately. But not by a saboteur.

    Good luck. Keep at it.

Will birds flying past the camera trip the trigger.........????? Now what would be funny is if they took you photos and left you porn.......

    Paranoia will destroy ya.

There seems to be a learning curve for many when it comes to baiting.

Maybe you picked a "less than optimal" spot.

dude. Like they say it could be the height or trigger speed. I put my trail cams like 18 to 24 inches rom the base of the trees. In fact my last set-up had one cam on the ground leaniing back onto a stick and the other was about 12 inches if that from the base of the tree.Bears didnt touch them.
In-fact out scent is out there and doesnt bother them. Ive left chairs and my blind out there and sometimes we've gone P 10 yards from the bait. But usually we go about 100 yards and P. But it doesnt bother the bears. Atleast in our area.Good Luckto you and try throwing alot more scent up in the air. We can smell our site 20-30 yards out, sometimes further If the wind is blowing. I firmly believ with all that scent, its masking ours. Good Luck to you fellas.

If your bait is gone but no pics I'd say its the camera or the set up. If a person was gonna steal your bait I'd think they would leave with the camera too. I put my camera in a locked steel box so there's no way to get to the card. I did have a few kids moon it a few years back.

when I lived in Shreveport La i would have trouble with my cam taking pics in the summer it was so hot it wouldn't detect the animals body heat. I purchased a better camera and started getting pics again.

I found out last year that moose or at least some like molasses. I have pictures of two different bulls licking it on a log at my bait.
