    Default Upper Kenai Rainbows

    Hello
I would like to get a nice fly fishing outfit for fishing upper Kenai rainbows with beads.
I would like to keep it in the 500 to 750 range.
    What is a good rod?
    Reel?
    Wat kinda line? Floating?

Alaska Fly Fishing Goods has a good starting package that sounds like what you are looking for - Kenai "getting started".

The starter pack is pretty much what I use, the Lamson Guru reel with Magnum Sharskin Fly line. The only difference is the rod, I use a 4 piece St. Croix my wife bought me.

    Bob,
you need a 5 or 6 wt rod, I am a fan of sage or powell for rods, but that doesn't mean there any better then others. As for a reel, I would go with a ross, lamson, or courtland. As for the line well if you want to fish beads you need floating line, strike indicators, peg its and hooks, I run a size 10 but you can go bigger if you want. Anthere thing your going to need is leader, I don't know if yoru going to be fishing from the bank or a boat but if your fishing from as bank I wouldn't mess with any thing less then a 12lb leader, in a boat you can run as low as 6. Make sure the diameter of the leader is small so teh fish can't see it. Hope this helps.

Thought this info would be useful to others so I thought I would share the links here in one thread.
