Default Klutina River Report June 10-13

    One word, FISH ON!

Jedi, BigCox, myself and a few others hit the Klutina this weekend. I arrived around 8 PM on Friday and got on the river about 9 PM. BigCox and Jedi had been there most of the day and limited at the mouth with ease. I hopped on the bank there at Klutina Salmon Charters. It took about 2 1/2 hours for me to limit for Friday. I foul hooked around 3 and landed 4 (releasing one). My buddy that was fishing with me got a later start and managed 2 before midnight.

We walked down to the mouth the following day and I caught, released, or foul hooked around 10-12 fish. In about 4 hours or so. We had 5 guys down there and we all limited in that time. It seemed like the bigger fish were definately at the mouth. One of my buds actually hooked into a king there, but got spooled.

It was a great time to be back in the saddle with the Jedi and BigCox. The Dark Side of the Force flowed through my veins again and it felt good to be back on the river!

That's great to hear... I saw many, many people catching...just not me, was there 5 hrs with my son, nothing... , it gets pretty frustrating... going again some more this week when the crowds go away..

If you cant stand behind the troops in Iraq.. Feel free to stand in front of them.

hit it yesterday afternoon for about 4-5 hours below the lodge and only landed 1 between my fishing partner and i. lost about 12 together though. its nice to have 30 feet in-between you and the next angler though, definitely more relaxing and peaceful than the russian, and the people there are some of the nicest i've met

    Default I concur!

Klutina is on Fire with sockeyes. Just have to do a little walking unless you want to do the waiting upstream.

I saw or heard of at least 3 kings being inadvertantly being hooked at the mouth. Hope the King run is good enough to stay open after the 1 July opening.

    Default great training

Had a great time at the Klutina! Learned many new techniques and tricks from 2 Jedis...1 step further in my training. I currently have about 10 lbs of sweet sockeye smoking at the smokehouse...can't wait to dig in. Hope to get some more quality time on the water soon. I think I might buy the campground... Who's with me?!

Dude, if the timing was right...ie 8 years from now when I retire, I would go in on it with you, ESPECIALLY at the price Dianne told me they were selling it for.

Good times on the water with you! Make sure you tell Dan and Chuck that you fished with Ged on the river.

    Default Klutina fishing

Do you think that the reds will still be hitting well this weekend at the Klutina. I am looking to take my son camping at the klutina charters campground. I am trying to get him to land his first salmon . Any info would be great. Thanks.

Yep. We went a little early and the fish were in there. It only gets better as the month progresses. You should do fine.

at the 4:40 mark or around there, when you first got to that hole did one of your buddies or you hook up on the first cast and lose it? if so then that was me across the river fishing. really wished i could have gotten to that little island, looks like the people over there were slaying them.

    Default greenhorn

Klutina noob here and I'm thinking of making a trip. Got any recommendations for good spots to try out? What flies or lures work there? I don't have a boat, but walking is fine with me.

Yesterday's trip to Seward was slow. Eventually I'll get a fish.
