    Default Fun litte winter project!

I put together this little shoadow box display during the cold long winter months this past year. I thought it worked out well, and will be making more this winter, hopefuly with a little more in them. We'll see how grouse season goes! I want to make one for each bird we have up here. Just wanted to share it with everyone. I think it would be a great project to do if you have a little one!

That looks fantastic! You did a great job on that. Nicely done and thanks for sharing. I'd like to do something like that.

Thanks Matt! It's actually very simple. If you ever want to throw one together, just PM me, and I'll let you know how I did it. A nice little secret about it, is that I bought the shadow box for only $15 from a craft store. I may have $20 total in it. It was a real nice ruffie that I considered getting mounted. Last bird I took last year. This was way cheaper, and people seem to like it!

I've done similar, but not so ornate - and instead of the leather(?) around the center, I used layer upon layer of rump feathers to fill it in... they look pretty good hangin' on the wall...although a little ruffled - they've been there a few years.

That looks very well done! My ten-year-old son is my constant hunting partner, and I think he'd enjoy a project like that. Thanks for the idea, I think we'll try it this year!
