Ok try and make this brief, while returning from our bear hunt in PWS we passed Ester Island and found a bunch of commercial fishermen out there. I believe they were gill netting reds? Not sure, either way we happened to notice one of the boats had a whale in their net. So couple guys from from our party decided to help. They off loaded thier zodiak and proceed to try and cut the whale free of the net. Kind of a Free Willy thing. Anyways after 4.5 hours of their efforts they were able to cut the whale free and it swam away. The guys that free the whale were good friends and both of them traveled from Texas to Alaska to join us on our hunt. Who would of thought that they would come to Alaska to go bear hunting, and end up freeing a whale. Just thought I'd share.
