Default Klutina Report 3-5 June 2010

I walked the Copper Center Area and found the lodge has good cheeseburgers. Only saw 2 others fishing.

Main stem of Klutina water level looked about normal to me. The Copper River looked very low. The Tonsia River at the low end looked high and muddy.

Big Cox and I found out even with a little captain in ya, the fish are not yet there. Fishing produced 1 hook up and 1 fish off for BG and I rolled a doughnut. Unless you count the picture below:

Summit is almost ice free and I did see some nice grayling along the lake edge.

One other forum member met up with us on Friday, he rolled a dougnut also and left not long after I did...next week??? I will return!

Do you think next week is worth going to the Klutina, seems early still?

Copper River counts have been strong for a week straight. 100,000 fish in the last 4 days.

    They're comin'.

That is true, but its a long ways from Miles lake to the Klutina. Does anyone know exactly how long it takes for fish to get to the Klutina from the counter? They say it takes 2 weeks to get to Chitna, but its another good hump from Chitna to the Klutina.

    Oh, yeah...I didn't mean, like, tomorrow...lol.

It'll be a few weeks before the bulk show up. Not sure on exact timing, though.

Go Next weekend, you'll catch some fish. There has been a ton of discussions as to how long the fish take to get to Klutina, nobody really knows, give it 10 days from the first decent counts and you'll be allright. I will return for my revenge next weekend!

At least the weather was nice....

    Fish On!
You know your not catching any fish when you start talking about the weather...

The Jedi left last night (Thursday) and I will be heading down this afternoon. According to him, and he doesn't exaggerate, when he arrived, people were at the fillet table with their limit. He watched folks last night and it appears that on average, it is 1 hour per fish. Good luck to those heading down this weekend and maybe I'll see you there.

My son and I both limited out on Thursday and Friday, the slugs of fish heading up the river are good, but the fishing that will be had there in another week or 2 will be amazing!Right now with the numbers in the river you kinda need to be in a hole to catch a limit, in the coming weeks, I dont think it will matter if you are in a hole or not, as there will be tons of fish in the river. Water was rising and it was raining like a Banshee from Big Delta all the way to just north of Sourdough today, expect rising water.
