Default How big a bear is it?

Here is a picture of a bear we watched for a while - Would have made an easy shot but we let it walk. If this was the view you had what would you estimate the size to be?

2nd picture is what a hitchhiker goes through in Cordova in the spring.

Default Nice Pictures but a smallish bear

I'm going to say that even though the pic shows a round large butt, that smallish head and large, close-together ears would put it around 5'. Maybe 5' 5" but probably not. Nice fur though. Where was the pic taken?

little guy...no reason to put feet and inches into it...kinda crappy view laying down to judge him past being a sausage bear...neat photo though.

The photo doesn't show, so I'll have to assume it had a nice even rub....

    Default Not good angle

You can't tell from that angle. Better to let walk until you are sure.

Small blackie, but it has a kinda threatening stare that I would be a bit uneasy about and would not turn my back on it.
My wife has that same look from time to time come to think of it, and there is always an eminent attack coming - RUN!

Both of those pictures were taken on the same day about 3 miles apart in Cordova. Couldn't believe the difference in the snow cover from one area to the next.

We watched it for a while and it was a pretty bear although small. It must have had a good fall because it appeared pretty fat. When it finally wandered off it was limping on its hind leg but we couldn't tell why. I was curious what you guys used to judge size - thanks for the input.
