Started a 2-day course today at UAF for the NOVICE fly fisherman (myself)...I highly recommend this to anyone who like myself needs some practice and some good instruction on everything from what type of flies there are to casting to just about anything else a beginner would like to know. We had a morning academic session followed by a session out on the Chena (40 mile and Front Street area). Still working on getting a fish on but the weather was spectacular and my technique is MUCH improved. Tomorrow we wrap up with another morning academic session followed by a still water fishing lesson. The class is being offered again in June...Mr. Shann Paul Jones is the instructor. Great way to spend a weekend and at a minimal cost (90 bucks). I was even inspired to drop by Big Ray's fly shop afterwards and purchase some nymph flies which I never would have done before. Great replacement for the University Fly Shop by the way! Just my daily 2 cents...
