Thread: Military tent heater

    Default Military tent heater

Has anyone had any experience with the small, non-powered, multi-fuel space heaters (SHS - Space Heater Small) currently used in the military?

I've tried the SHA..It's very economical to burn. I got 5 hours on a gallon of #1 diesel.
The sha packs into itself, about forty pounds I think...good base camp stove

Default Not the exact same model

Susitna Energy sells a similar version. Works well. Sometimes hard to control the flow so can run too hot. It works in really cold too.

I bought two of them (SHS) late last winter for $175.00 each but have NOT used them yet. I went over them with a fine tooth comb and was impressed with the simple design and how small they are.

The next step up is the SHA (space heater arctic) which until about a week ago was very hard to get. 1,750 of them in lots of 5 are soon going up for bid and I'm tempted. Shipping from CA to MN is around 268.00 and I think you would pay about the same? I think you could get (5) of them for a $200.00-250.00 bid so around $500.00 for five of them. That's a heck of a deal.

As much as I love the little SHS the SHA is even more impressive and twice the heat. You still need the military fuel can and stand though with above bid and unforunately, I think your almost going to pay $100.00 (including shipping) for both from what I've researched on the web.

3 used SHS hit the market. They're in same shape as the two I bought, suffering from apparent water damage. Mine cleaned up fine with WD40.

Thanks. I'll have to start paying attention to that site.
