Thread: The other place

    Default The other place

Has anyone had any trouble logging on to Larry Bartletts site, Pristine Ventures.
I have not had any luck in a while.

I haven't been able to see the forum in over a week. The rest of the site comes up. Last time I was on he mentioned he was modifying his site. The new material looks good. Hopefully the forum comes back up soon.

Posted the same question in the Global Discussion Forum a few days back. It's been over 2 weeks now since it would load for me. Sure do miss the PV Forum. Hope Larry gets it up and running soon. Knute

Just email LB's web designer. They are having problems and are working to bring it back up.

If the car you use to commute to work stayed busted for 3 weeks in your mechanic's garage, what would you do?

If the guy you hired to work to on your house or even camper made in uninhabitable for 3 weeks time, what would you do?

    Yep.

P.S. With the spate of outdoors forum outages going on right now, it reminds me of one of my favorite books, an oldie but a goodie (which has been retitled because its title was evidently somewhat non-PC) "Ten Little Indians".

    Default What would I do?

Nothing in this case. That forum is a free service and I doubt LB is really making any money off it. He has no paid advertising, just maybe gets a little more traffic that looks at his own products/services.

The contact info is on the site - that's all I did. I don't know anything that you don't.

I talked with LB about 2 weeks ago and he said the site has some serious issues that they are trying to fix. Changes are in the works for the PV forums.

    Default go someplace else

If a restaurant wanted to make sure to teach ALL of their regulars to go elsewhere regularly, they would make sure to padlock the front door for a couple weeks while they're painting their dining room.

Milo, cash cow or free service, its meant to draw people in regularly, and shuttering the site while an amateur pecks away at trying to solve a problem they've never encountered before is a total amateur move to make for any web site owner.

Absolutely, but cash is the problem - I work in that industry and I could do the work for him. Problem is, I know what I would have to charge and he'd never recover that cost. I just ain't worth it. So your choice is to move on, or not?

It might be worth a quick call if that forum still matters to you.

I accept full responsibility for this site's downtime today; somehow I jinxed it.

Not only did I post this (the quoted text above) a full day before this site's downtime today, I misquoted... The PC (retitled) name of this book I was talking about written by Agatha Christie is really:

    "And Then There Were None".

    That's just plain spooky.

If he charged membership fees and sales commissions, I'm sure his site would be doing just fine!

    Just sayin..
We do not go to the green woods and crystal waters to rough it, we go to smooth it. We get it rough enough at home; in towns and cities; in shops, offices, stores, banks anywhere that we may be placed
