Question ALASKA River Monsters Show. Did You Watch it?

Well it just aired, did you see it? What do you think, do you believe that there is a monster 12-18'ft fish out there in Lake Iliamna. Flipping Boats?
Well I wont spoil it, just post up if you believe his theory on the existing monster in that lake?

I'd love to see that one. LOL! I'll have to program my VTR for that.

I believe it. I anchored up out there once and put a chum bucket on my anchor and about 5 minutes after I dropped it something grabbed it and towed my boat from one end of the lake to the other before we lost it. Guess I should've been using a Danforth.

No. And I'm one believing that salmon sharks run up the Kenai River. Sometimes.

i was a bit disappointed with the show. I cant believe he did not even try to catch it once he found out what it was. I would have got a deep sea rod a salmon carcass and tried to catch one.

Haven't watched it and I don't want to spoil it, but if you're talking about what I think you're talking about it may be illegal to even try.

    Default Questionable

I believe the theory he came up with would be possible as far as the species but that's about it. I have fished that species many times and don't think they would do what was said on the show. Wasn't too impressed with the show actually he really didn't do much at all. Was expecting hi
    to do more fishing there.

He did get a pretty nice fishing trip out of it..... And it was on someone elses dime at that.

I was surprised he didn't spend more
time fishing for the monster too......

Watched it late last night and was thoroughly unimpressed.

I did enjoy the bear stealing his salmon, though. I chuckled at that a bit. He kept saying "We're going to break it off" and never did...I think the bear did for him.

    Ahh, novices.

His "theory" of the monster isn't exactly unique, either, and I thought had been proven out a long time ago.

    Cool

I watched and was unimpressed as well. I don't really disagree with the possibility of it being a sturgeon, but like you guys said, he never really tried to prove his theory, so we still never know... Maybe a Nessie is living there...

I don't have the data, but my dad has been a fisheries biologist in AK since the mid-70's and I was pretty sure at some point they had found some sturgeon in Illiamna.

Nobody quote me on that, but I've spent the last 30 years or so believing there were sturgeon over there for some reason.....

Every once in a while a green sturgeon will show up in a subsistence set net in the Naknek or the Kvichak

Now as far as the monster goes, I know a pilot who swears he saw it...

Default I want that guys job

I could totally research some off the wall fish monster myth and then head out on road trip to catch it.

Animal Planet should probably hire me because, the guy that is on it now is a bone head. Why did he keep playing that salmon with the Bear right there?

This is the same guy is who "investigated" the claim of a 10 foot plus Lake Trout in the Northwest Territories. I'm already skeptical and I haven't watched the DVD of this one.

They did a below average job on the lake trout hunt too.

Yes, they should hire me, too.

I'd totally let them pay me to go catch cool and interesting fish in the Amazon and Congo and whatnot. That'd be such a rough job.
