Question Good hunting book to read?

Just finished the new version of The Mad Trapper of Rat River (excellent book, good read) and need another book to read. I've perused the bookstore, just looking for suggestions. Prefer survival stories/hunting stories/techniques. Any suggestions?

    Thanks,
    Tim

    Default Have you read Batin's?

Book about Alaska hunting? I love his stories he has in the appendix of his book, in particular the Duck hunting one...

Not necessarily a hunting book, though it has plenty of hunting in it, Trailing and Camping in Alaska by Addison Powell is a fantastic read.

You can find it at Prince William Sound Books http://www.alaska.net/~awss/Powellstoryteller.html

Mongolia Hunter written by Anchorage resident Patrick Steward is great. He is a great story teller and an excellent writer if you are interested in reading about sheep hunting, foreign lands and traveling to the unknown and visiting different cultures. It's a hard book to find because it is out of print, but well worth the search. Try alibris for the search. http://www.alibris.com/

Any of the Russell Annabel books about hunting in Alaska are great hunting reads. Rusty might stretch the truth on occasion, but he was a world class storyteller. Safari Press has new copies of all his books, but used copies can be found across the www.

    Default Thanks for the recommendations..

I ended up going to Titlewave a buying "Hunting The Land of the Midnight Sun: A Collection of Hunting Adventures by the Alaska Professional Hunters Association." Its a collection of stories submitted by guides and clients. The book is divided by regions; southwest, interior, etc.

Between the links provided by AKMud and the suggetions on this thread, there is a lot of material sift through and read before hunting season.

    Thanks again,

    Tim
