Just returned from hunting bear from Glenallen to Thompson Pass and down to McCarthy. Lots of snow remaining from about 40 miles out of Glenallen south to the Pass--my favorite areas were under at least 18" still. The Copper River Basin is all dry but very little concentrated green areas yet. The road to McCarthy has been grated and you can make good time; its all dry as well but no green coming up yet anywhere. Didn't see any bears but heard of a younger/smaller grizzly killed at or near a cabin at Chiltina. I think I went too early by a week or ten days.
