Thats some sweet video! I would not mind catching a couple of them. That looked like a small creek, would you be willing to divulge the location?

    Thanks for the post,
    Riley

    Default Leave spawners alone

People should know by now that it is NOT ethical to fish for spawning trout anywhere. People sure like to pull browns off the beds and think it is acceptable behavior. In Alaska, with our native stocks of rainbows it is frowned upon. Please don't harass these fish. It's closed anyway so those fish are safe except from ninja poachers. Have a great weekend all.

Looks like a spot on base where fishing isn't allowed anyway, or I could be totally wrong. Regardless, nice video.

Thanks for the video. Its neat to see that you can get that close to them in that low of water without spooking them. Were you able to see any of them drop eggs?

no All the males seem to want to fight rather than spawn the day before i did see a pair spawning and also seen a few 4 inch nest robbers just behind them.

Yeah I know that place in the video. Watch the salmon spawn there sometimes. Today took the family on the back of Fort Rich and saw many decent size bows cruising the shore. Caught a couple small ones and my buddy's wife hooked into a nice 16 inch fish which she released after a quick photo op.

    Thumbs up Nice vid 900

I watched this last night and knew the spot almost immediatly. Stopped by there bout an hour ago, still going at it . The first fish I ever caught in this state was from the body of water located upstream. It was a close to steelie sized bow (released of course), and just a beautiful specimen. Good to see the future looks good for em.

BTW if your looking for a partner anytime I live on Elmo too. I frequent the Kenai quite a bit and am still a novice fly chucker. Dont do too bad, but always looking to fish with seasoned vets.

Old Sixer below the fish ladder. I sample fish there in the summer.
