    Default Big Brown Bear.........

Well, weve been hunting as we do, and last week the wife was able to catch her first Brown Bear.
Usually were very happy with one, and I have stepped aside a few times toi let a son take the meat making shot, but I already had caught a FAT young fella, we spotted this guy digging in a creek (dead moose frozen unde layers of ice we later saw) so she told me she was gonna catch this fella.......

What else to say but "OK?!"~~LOL!!~~

So we approched from above and I satrted yelling as loud as I could, and sure enough, he came up and outta the creek to have a look......would that qualify as "Calling 'em in??" ~~LOL!!~~ more like up and out of the creek.........

So I was filming and trying to tease but it got fairly serious when she put two in his neck, and one a running shot.
He hauled down the creek about 75 yards and ran outta blood..........no need for follow up shots........

Apon disssassembly, we found she had passed the shots just below the neck spine, completly removing the Arteries that lay along it and the gush was as good as a Heart shot for sure. What a trail to follow....

Shes 5'2" so either sitting at his butt made her look small or him look big, but he is longer than my snowgo, a longtrack Arctic Cat Bearcat, a bit over 10 feet long.
We doubt hes a record, but he's certainly worth the keep, and were gonna get 'em tagged and measured as soon as we can afford gas to go to Kotzebue to the FnG, 'cause they dont come to us.......120$ in gas,RT, what a pain.......

I'll post the "Whole Hunt" on my blog, it was a long ,,productive week ~~LOL!!~~

Wow. Iron sights, too! What a memory you have made. Let us know what the hide squared out, okay?

    Most certainly Mike.

We kept alotta the back fat, 4 inches thick, know around here as "Kobuk River Seal oil substitute" ~~LOL!!~~

Being aKobuk River Womn, she dosent eat Bear meat, and being her first , by tradition, she gave away all the meat, but that didnt take long Older folks love it and my Bear is half gone apon our return home, so I know some young folks who like the meat too, as its Spring meat and very mild in flavor.

Outstanding! Beautiful bear for sure! He's going to make the grizzly book, and he's probably big enough for the brown book too!

Call and make a complaint so a tropper will have to come out and then call back and tell him to bring a seal too. Great story and hunt as always

You went ALL the way to Kiwalik for bears? Why so far? Wasn't there bears closer?
Man your snow sure has stayed good to go that far this time of year. Surprised the bear didn't hear the snogo..............enough wind to cover the sound I guess?
I'll have to check out your blog.
