    Default Gulkana River Steelhead

Does anyone know anything about this run? Timing? Access? I've heard its very small and very difficult to fish. Just wondered if anyone has any experience with it.

    Thanks,

    Matt

I caught one of the hogs when I was little rascal in like '75 at sourdough creek. It was sept 18th and I was fishing for the grayling migrating to the lake. It weighed like 10lbs I took it on a daredevil and yes we ate it. We thought it was just a hog rainbow, the milepost used to refer to these fish as "granddad" rainbows in the 70's before peeps figured out they were steelhead, I do remember this though, it hardly fought at all, we were really surprised it was tired so easy

Default I have no idea what your talking about

What Who Where! Oh Yes I love to fish for Blue Gills! They have them on the Gulkana Dang fish on!

Ok but do me a favor and PM first I am not giving out any great secrets just passing on already available data for the most part.

Well maybe a couple of options some people don't know about but they are work and a true commitment to try and fish. Three Things:

You have to be Dumb Enough to go

You have to be Dumb Enough to want to go

You have to be Dumb Enough to think you wish to go!

If your willing to do the work the fishing can be good. Remember you should look at the System i.e. Copper River as a whole and not think Gulkana yes it may have them and in limited numbers there are other areas within the system that might be a little harder to access however the fishing is much better and no additional personnel around to compete.

Shoot me a PM I will respond

Been there done that! And you'd have to almost kill me to get me to squeal as the guy I went with is much bigger than I so either way I'd be dead.
