Default Got my first Brown Bear.

Got my first personal Brown Bear on the 5th. 1/2 mile stalk into the bear as it fed on the kelp beds. The herring recently spawned on the beach and really brought in the bears. Got to 40 yards from it for my shot. Had to get close as the way the beach was I had to cross over into the woods, thick cover and couldnt get a shot opening on it until I got close enough. Never knew I was there and didnt know what hit it. Squared out at 7'6". Not the biggest bear on the Island, but a trophy in my book. I am very proud of my first Brown Bear harvest. The .375 H&H scores again.

Interesting the note of them coming down for the Herring Spawn on the beach, never imagnined that but I bet they love that stuff.

Thanks guys. Bfish, no blood on the hoodie, I had my camo rain gear on during the sprinkles and took it off during the pictures and pulling it out to the skiff. The helly hansen stuff is great for rain, but its hotter than hell when doing work)

    Hey Ken,

Sounds good. I am limited to every 4 years here, but will be doing them in 1 or 2 bear a year areas until I can get another tag for here. When I do my interior Grizzly, you are more than welcome to come and help out. I would have taken you up on the help on this one, but with my schedule and getting the lodge ready to open, I didnt have a set timeline for hunting, just went out when I could after working on equipment and such. Good to see you bud. I probably wont be up north when you come in for your sheep hunut, I wont be in until late August as my captains job goes until the 25th and then I will head up for the moose season. If your in after that, I hope to see you. If not, best of luck on the hunt

Did you measure it to get 7'6" squared with it hanging like that on the door? Measure the skull? Boar or sow?

4 more years and you can do it again!
