    Default Depends

It depends on how far out. Cordova, Valdez and Whittier all have different channels. At times because of the terrain you may have to use all three as you navigate around.

    Default ? are the 3 ?

What are the 3 channels. WX1 - hmm, I need to read the owners manual for my handheld radio.

I stayed in the bay by the harbor - never farther than 3 or 4 miles from the docks.

Randy, when you swithch to WX, then just flip through channels, like normally, it should flip through available weather channels, untill you hear one well.
Maybe your hand held is different, but the idea is the same.

    I must be a fool!!!!!!!
I need to figure out my radio, I hear everyone out there all day long. I use it every now and then but I never hear a weather broadcast. What is this WX? Mine is not a handheld. I am on channel 16. I am refering to Valdez area and often Whittier aswell. Can anyone simplify this for me, What am I missing?

This is a typical radio. Yours should have a "toggle button" like the one in the attached photo. Pressing it switches back and forth between "weather" broadcast channels, and "regular" marine voice communication channels.

    I hope this helps...

ON Mothersday weekend, it was not broadcasting on any channel that my radio would pickup nor several other boats that I spoke with, but it worked just fine when pushing the button at the CG Aux. I even put my radio on scan with no luck either except other boats talking. Maybe there is something wrong with the repeater.

Has anyone noticed poorer weather coverage this year in PWS? It seems like I use to be able to get weather just about anywhere, and it seems much more limited this year. Did they drop a repeater or something? Maybe I am just venturing to more remote locations...
