Default Arctic Grayling: fishing with another forum member

Another good experience this forum allowed me to have. What a great tool for linking up with others who like to fish in Alaska.

"Gorgefly" and I were able to spend a little time fishing for arctic grayling along the Chena (Badger) Slough before he got on his plane.

Nothing caught that was record breaking, however still good times.

I used my mind tricks on the grayling to have him raise his dorsal fin!!

Ice went out about 2 weeks ago, there are lots of nice fish headed into the slough for spawning. I caught this nice guy on Sun.

It's finally dry-fly time on Badger Slough as of last night....possible it was before then, not like I'm fishing it every day. Very cool to watch grayling rut around on spawning bed with backs out of water just like salmon too.

I am still catching fish on bead heads, slow and deep. My father-in-law watched me use mind melt on them last night.

I still have yet to see anything taking on the top?

Clearwater in July will remain my top water time for them I guess?

I am still seeing lots of fish in the Chena (Badger) slough, I heard pile driver is picking up?

I heard a guy talking about Pile Driver the other day down here in Anchorage, he was saying that him and his buddies used to fish it and catch 20 inchers out of there all the time....

I though it was funny, but I guess you never know...

    Fish On!
You know your not catching any fish when you start talking about the weather...

Yup, I had them rising to mosquitos and adams' in that slack/deep area right after the old beaver dam in front of the ranch style house at the repp bridge.

I've seen 20 inch rainbows taken out of there, but that was long ago.

Ripped some grayling lips today on Piledriver. Missed a nice one on a green wooly bugger but then switched to mosquito pattern on top for 3 fish in hand and several more missed. My feet got cold in the water so I left. Tried Chena Lakes and nothing. Good to be on the water again.

You know I need to go back and pick up more of the garbage, its been getting worse.....hope more people who fish down there might want to help the effort to keep things clean. Just a thought....
