Thread: POW King

    Default POW King

Kodiak and Homer aren't the only places with kings...

Nice white fleshed king, caught in the first 10 minutes of fishing this morning. Helps when you show up right at the tide change. Fishing solo, so this is the best picture I got. Bear hunting tonight. BTW, caught it on a flasher/hoochie.

I would rather eat white king than any other salmon, especially when it's from SE!

    Great fish.

My son picked up a 25 lb red king last night out of Knudsen Cove, haven't seen the picts yet. That's the 1st report of one I've heard of over here.

Default I think it is a King.

Looking at the anal fin, I'd say King. Based on 270ti's experience, I'd say King.

    muskeg,

saw one bear tonight, late in the evening. He looked like a big one, but he gave me the slip before I could get close enough to get a good look at his head. I was out in the boat.

    Default rumors

Have you heard of many more or any more being taken?

Talking with the IFA Ferry folks and they said that it seemed like hunter going to the Island are way low in numbers compared to normal.

Same word from ADF&G as far as bait site permits being issued so far !!!

I have not seen one single camo clad bear hunter yet. That's good news, if the number of hunters are down.. Haven't heard of any more being taken yet, but I really haven't been asking.

Black gum line = king. There aren't many spots on that tail, though. I've heard of white coho's returned to the Taku R. system.

    Nice one Joel.

Heading out tomorrow for Trifecta (salmon, crab and grouse) or Grand Slam (salmon, crab, grouse and bear) action.

    Will report back on Monday.

Good luck. I'm waiting another day before I make my weekend plans. Not sure what the weather is going to do yet. I really want to anchor up for big halibut of the wind/water lets me. I have to wait a little longer to go monster ling hunting.

There are spots not only on the top of the caudal, but also on the bottom. I've sampled thousands of coho and they only have spots on the upper lobe.

The fishing is doing good here in Wrangell. Got seven in the last week. Alot of white ones are being caught too.

    Default White Kings rule

White Kings are the best, I always tell my friends that those white meated fish should just be put in the fish box and forgotten about, so that way I can take them home.

    Default 26#

Here in Coffman today. WORKED for it though. Took 30 minutes. Another guy got a 64# halibut trolling off the airplane folat in the cove. Weird.
