Default Upper kenai winter finale float

Floated the river on saturday and did pretty good. Sam managed 4 while megan caught 2. I got 1.

Floated the river today. My buddy ryan got 5, megan got 2 and i caught none. But what a great day! and of course fins and feathers was down at the boat launch to greet me and hassle me about fishing liscenses life vests and gear. Other then dealing with those guys for an extended hour it was a great trip!

Below are some pics. The ones of the sunny day was saturday.

I choose to fly fish, not because its easy, but because its hard.

If you're on the sticks, you get credit for all of them! At least that's what I tell myself on those days when I spend the whole day rowing and everyone in the boat catches fish but me

Nice pics. I gotta get-out one more time before d-day!

    Yeah, no kidding Scott.

I am pretty new to rafting, and I already got so much figured out.

Anyone that floats with me, will learn to row the dang boat (or bring silver bullets).

Nice fish Jose, looks like a blast.

I went on Saturday on my first float trip and first time on the Kenai. Beautiful river with beautiful water. We did not catch anything. I lost about a dozen flies on rocks. Tried them all. Did not know what to use or really what I was doing. It was nice to get out, but wish we would have caught something. What type of flies did you all catch them on? Top the trip off with a speeding ticket on the way back to Fairbanks. Nice.

Dolly llamas, MOAL leaches, big sculpin patterns, old tan flesh flies. Or at least that's what supposedly works, I have been unable to catch a fish there so far this year.
