    Default negatory on bear

Spent 6 hours out on the water on the ol' jet-ski on 4/24. No bear. Did see two blacktail just hanging out on a beach LESS THAN ONE MILE from whittier. That made me kinda crazy.

I was down last Wed/Thur. mostly in Cochrane Bay didn't see any sign of bears. There was still 9 ft of snow on the North facing shore.

    Default Nope

Culross passage and Port Nellie Juan, no Joy this Saturday. Tons of snow still. It was a nice day, but full on winter. Even had ice in Culross that we skipped over in a big jet boat. Soon though. Very soon.

We are heading down on the 19th for 4-5 days.. We are hoping the snow is gone by then. Buddy was down this week and told me that there was still 7+ feet of snow on the ground. This will be my first resident black bear hunt and I am all fired up Hopefully I'll have some pictures to post when we get back..

Heading down on the 20th, there will be plenty of bears out by then. That will be a good time to be out there. Good luck.

We'll be leaving on the 13th to try to catch them while they are forced to the beach. Pretty much gotta find them there to put an archery stalk on them. We were a bit late last year, had to use the rifle to shoot one on the hillside.

Good luck and post back on how the hunt went. Since this is my first resident black bear hunt I am all fired up to go! I feel like I did 35 years ago on the night before my first deer season opener! Laying in the bunk at camp, can't sleep, tossing and turning waiting for the alarm to go off.. My father *****ing about me rolling around in the bunk above him.. telling me to go to sleep. Those were great years! I still get back to hunt whitetails with him every year. We are just a little older now.
