    Default 200 Sportjet Optimax Question

So, I tore down the jet to drain the stator gear oil and check out the impeller. Wear ring has some grooves in it, the impeller looks pretty good. I have a clearance of .040 right now. That's pushing the max. So, shoudl I replace the wear ring with a factory one or is there some other ring that would be better? The boat runs really good right now, but the hole shot is getting weak. Any ideas?

I wouldn't hesitate to get a stainless wear ring installed in your housing and get the impeller rebuilt to match it. Problem is you waited too long. A while back one fall we sent in two housings and an impeller and it was late in the spring when we got our hands on them again. Not saying it will take that long but this time of year the shops are ramping up and you will lose some boat time while on the waiting list. Huge difference after the new liner and impeller though! Runs great and will last a lot longer too.

I had them sent to Gibbons Motor Toys in Alberta. Can't remember if they do the work or have a local shop do it. I think it was 1500 for the SS liner, fix the impeller, and bought a new impeller for cheap. With only two seasons on the boat at the time there was significant wear on the housing and impeller from the silty rivers we run.

Greatland Welding in Wasilla does them. They do a great job. You will not be waiting months to get it back either. I just dropped off my impeller/housing last week. I had one done last year as well and the difference is very noticable. Well worth the money.

    Default Yep

I've already talked to Gary a few minutes ago. He said he had two of them in there right now that are ready to be picked up and one more to do. He said it would only take a week or so. I'll be heading out there first thing in the morning to have mine done.

    Thanks everyone.....

Could you let me know the cost also? Friend just bought a new Sportjet powered boat and I told him he'll need this done sooner or later. Thanks!

    Thanks for the info.

How do you determine when this should be done? I'm thinking about getting mine in after this season.

I was quoted 400 for the sleve and mayde and little more to. Build up my impeller. Also my impeller is new. Also A 1 impeller in anchorage can also do them .

i hag greatland do my stainless sear ring last year. I paid 400 for the ring and to have the impeller matched back up. I think Alvin at artistic aluminum fabrications in wasilla does an awsome job at having the impeller matched up to the wear ring. not sure what he gets to do a stainless ring though. He does all of a-1s stuff in anchorage.

    Default Ring and Impeller

Well, just dropped off my parts at Greatland Welding. Should be done next week or so. Gary said it will feel like a totally different boat. Can't wait to see how she runs now.
