Thread: New Forums Suggestion

    Wink New Forums Suggestion

I would like to see the Hunting Forum split. We need a Sport Hunting Forum and a Subsistence Hunting Forum. I suggest it might help the guys/gals sort out the details of the kind of hunting they are looking info for. I can only imagine the angst a guy from Deleware might have on here looking for info on a hunt, only to read through hours of Alaskan woes.

I'll second. It's two totally different methods/goals for hunting.

I would suggest further that the sport hunting forums be divided by species and or region. The Haul Road, for instance, needs its own sub forum within the Caribou Forum (if the fourms are reclassfied by species)
If cave men had been trophy hunters the Wooly Mammoth would be alive today

Be careful..pretty soon it will look like this popular forum. Lots of great info but extremely hard to wade through.

I can certainly see the value in dividing the sport hunting and subsistence hunting but anything more than that will water everything down. Next thing you know people will want seperate species, areas, resident/nonresident forums, etc, etc.

perhaps it will allow those that are newer to the state and not understanding of subsistence issues, some of the harvest is very hard to swallow for urban sport hunters.. take for instance Spring water fowl seasons... or daily bag limits on caribou... even though they don't understand the season, they also don't understand that as residents of the state they could travel to those areas and participate in the state authorized seasons and bag limits... but... i guess it is easier to send crappy PMs to folks that live and hunt like that.....

    Default good idea

The idea of splitting things up has come up before. It would make things more difficult to read forums on different species, areas, etc.

I do like Bill's suggestion. Having a sub-forum on draw permits, etc would make it a little easier to sort though all the draw permit mess and look for information on hunts.

Another idea that might be good would be to have an introductory message sent to all new forum memebers on how to search for old threads, to look for similar messages before posting a new one, etc.

Personally I think it was a bit annoying this year to see about 10-12 different threads on draw permits this year when all of them were basically the same thing.

After splitting the firearms out from the swap and sell, I don't normally visit the firearms section any more. I was trying to keep up for a while, but it just got to be a little too much. I'd vote to have the firearms put back into the swap and sell so I can just see all the for sale in one place.

Agreed, times 2! Too many forums is NOT a good thing.

Personally, I don't agree with separating subsistence and sport either, but I could live with it.
