Going for halibut in July and was wondering if Tekota 700 would do? I just bought the 700 and now I am thinking I should have got the 800, which was selling for the same price. Please advise. Thanks.

The Tekota 700 will do just fine, but why didn't you take them up on the free upgrade? Just work the drag and be sure to have it mounted on a short rod rated for heavy or ex. heavy. What kind of line are you running? I run 80-lb Power Pro on all four of my halibut setups.

Those 700's will be fine. I have 600's on Loomis Musky rods and they work well.

They will just fine unless you are out trophy hunting.
