    Default Homer Salt water

I have some clients that wish to after staying with me, head down to Homer and fish the Salt Water for Kings and things. They are not itereseted in halibut. This will be the second half of June, mostly the last week. Anyone have any suggestions for charters that can handle this? I know that halibut is the big draw but that is not what they are after. Are there any kings across the bay for a fly rodder?

    Thanks in advance,

    George

Default drop a line to Cliffhanger on the forum...

Jim just had a beautiful custom bayweld built, and i know that he likes to fish all the "other" species.
he used to guide ship creek in anchorage, and over the years he has helped many folks get into fish.
his place is in little tutka, so he knows all the hidey-holes in the islands for misc. species.
he has excellent people skills, you can't go wrong with referring your folks to him.

    Default "In 2 Fishing"

You might give Ron Hurley a call, he operates In 2 Fishing charters out of Homer and has been in buisness down there for a number of years. He's got a great boat (big enough to get all your guest out) and is impecably honest. And they do Kings! 888-236-9091

I know both Jim and Ron and they both have boats I drool over quite often. I fish out there right near Ron quite often, so we "compare notes" and gab about what's going on all the time. And Jim and I will be getting together to "compare notes" and fish together too as soon as he gets up here. I would not hesitate to go out with either one of them.

    Default Jim, the "Fishing Dude"

He just moved in and wants to enjoy his summer before taking on clients. Leastwise, that's what he told me about 8 weeks ago...

    Default Lot's of options

Before this is thru George, you'll probably have a long list of possibilities to choose from. Someone on here knows all these guys and I'm sure you'll find a crowd pleaser.
Since it is fishing and variables are numerous, I always look for the guy with an honest reputation who will tell you like it is. Most guides are pretty good and they have to be to stay in business but everynow and then one will come along of questionable character.
I'm unsure about the Kings but there should be a ton of Reds, which are great fun on a fly rod too.

I'd still contact him. I talked with him last week and it sounds like he's chomping at the bit to get started.

I hope it's OK to mention OTHER people's websites.

    Ron's at: http://www.in2fishin.com/

    Jim's at: http://www.akskookumcharters.com/

As I said before, both are great guys and super knowledgeable about local waters. I ran into Ron today at the store and he's going to be out looking for some barn doors in the not too distant future. They're heading this way!
