    Default This weeks project

My wife is a lakefishaholic. She use to use a little 9' plastic pontoon boat we drug up from the lower 48 with a 38 pound thrust Minn Kota. Last year she started using an old skiff (hewes river runner 14') but it was beat up, seats were all buggered up, etc. She went on vacation this past week and this is what I've been working on. I cleaned it up. Got new wood for the seats. Made some floorboards for easy walking and balance. Used 3/4 plywood and braced underneath with 2x4 and stripping so it is solid with no bend when you walk. Drilled holes with rope handles for easy removal to clean underneath. Painted it all green her favorite color. Installed a new swivel seat. Installed a fish finder. Installed some pole holders so we are not tripping on poles when traveling. Got her a new spare tire, and installed front guide poles (1" metal square tubing with ABS while tubing with cap for a cover. Installed her new 55 pound thrust minn kota and put on my 2 horse honda on the back. Hope she likes it. Its an old skiff but its dolled up and usable. I pick her up in a few hours and she new I was working on boats but thats all.

    Default fishing

Nice job chico. Those floors look real good. Did you fasten them in or are they fitted to not move? I am looking for a similar fishing boat and have a Minn Kota and a 8hp Evinrude ready to go. Gives me some ideas, thanks. OH, your wife may not want to stop fishing now.

They are fitted in. Not going anywhere unless it flips. Good luck finding a skiff. In about a month lakes should be open!

Well she was happy to say the least! she saw it at 2 am and just got up to see it again. She loved the floor boards and how sturdy/stable the were. Glad you guys liked it too.
