How about a close up of the lures? I plan to spend another summer trying to catch those lure chasing, no hitting fish. I really like that lake. Great people, beautiful scenery and the possibility of great fishing.

dirtofak, not so much as the lure but how and where you fish them. Also what time of the year is VERY important.RIGHT after ice out is the best before the lake "TURNS".

Default anybody fished either lake louise or hidden lake so far this winter?

those are the two lakes i understand are the go to lakes for lake trout. i want to plan a trip to fish for lakers but dont exactly know what tackle is needed to fish for them through the ice.

spoons, tube jigs, airplane jigs, glow in the dark stuff (yes they will bite after dark), a good flasher, a good rod that can handle fish shown above.

    Thats it.

The flasher is the catsmeow to finding and staying on fish, or getting fish that come through well above or well below your bait where otherwise the fish has no clue your bait is there.

A good rod, well good luck, so far I've had nothing but issues trying to find something I really like in this department.

You might want a 10" auger too, an 8"er is just a tad small for some fish over 20!!!

Default Is there a size limit...

I'm not very familiar with lake Louise but would love to get some of those lakers, is there a size limit it terms of keepers? Are they good eating?
    Thanks!

SockeyOrange-Lakers must be 24"s or bigger to keep up at Lake Louise. They are kinda oily much like red salmon and taste great!

    Talking Lake Louise

Check here for a lake louise report from late Dec. No mosters like TBSteve has, but a heck of alot of fun to pull up an 8" hole in the ice!
