Thread: What are your Favorite Hunting Books?

  1. #1

Default What are your Favorite Hunting Books?

Thought it might be a good idea to get a list going. Elmer Keith thread sparked the idea but didn't want to hijak it. I don't mean "how-to" books, but adventure story books. Here are a few of mine:

Horn of the Hunter, Robert Ruark

Death in the Long Grass, Peter Hathaway Capstick

    Man-Eaters of Kumoan, Jim Corbett

    Tigero, Sasha Siemal

Last of the Great Brown Bear Men, Marvin H. Clark Jr

Hell, I was There, Elmer Keith

Hey guys, don't forget the "Hunting Hard in Alaska" books by our own Marc Taylor! My copies are getting a little dog-eared, but occupy a permanent spot on my nightstand.
Another favorite is "The Game Rifle" by the late Bob Hagel.
However, anything by Russel Annabel will always be numero uno for me. I've been reading his stories since I was in grade school, waaayyy back in the 60's.

    Default History

Hey Jeff - I started reading books back in the early 50s.

I have Jack O'Connor's "Lost Chronicles" but have to agree that anything by Annebel, Ruark, or O'Connor make great reading.

I also have 2 compilations - The Greatest Hunting Stories and The Greatest Fishing Stories both compiled by Lamar Underwood that are great reads and allow for short-time reading.
