How thick is the ice: Hoping people that are ice fishing can simply list the date, lake and thickness.

I plan on going ice fishing 9-11 April near Anchorage/Susitna Valley areas

any help would be appreciated! Thanks in advance

Was on Lowberg Lake Monday and had a good 24". Got some small trout and char but was a beautiful day and the 5 and 3 yr old had a blast reeling in the fish and then playing till I hooked another.

Nancy Park mystery pond- about knee deep, with 6 inches of water on top topped with 2-3" of hardened snow crust.

    Default Lake Louise

Last saturday there was a solid 40" on Lake Louise. No overflow and the weather was awesome. My dogs and I took a nap on a blanket out on the look. Sunburn

    Default Went out last weekend

In the valley. Took the wife and kids. Good fishing. Fish were hungry for our lines. I did not measure, but I am guessing it was around 20-24 inches thick. There were pockets of overflow throughout the layers. My guess is this might me the last weekend for the Mat-valley lakes. I am sure Lake Louise will be fine for awhile. But, its melting pretty fast. Some die hards will probably stick it out a few more weeks. But you won't see me bringin my kids out there after this weekend.

    Default So I was wrong

I went out again this weekend. Plenty of ice. I thought with all the sunshine, we would be losing ice fast, but I would say there is still 16-20'' at least. When I drove by big lake, there were still vehicles out on the ice. My best guess is that it will be safe for at least 2 more weeks.

Fished Grouse, Vagt, and Carter lakes this weekend. I fished Little Campbell today. Grouse had about 20 inches of ice, Vagt had about 30 inches, Carter had over 6 ft, and Little Campbell had 20-24 inches. Fish were caught every where but Vagt Lake, but nothing to big. A couple of fish caught at Carter were over 20 inches.
