Default Need Some Fish ID Help Please

I've been out fishing for Dolly Varden, and I keep catching mystery fish. They range from 28-34"s, and are chrome. Are they an early run of humpies? Thanks!

    Picture of the mystery fish.

Another pic.. That darn fish broke my rod near the tip when I was attempting to get a good picture of him in the water. Dang fish kept peeling drag and doing big jumps.... I can't seem to catch a Dolly either.

I suppose a location might be helpful.

Can't see much in the images posted but if chrome sided, fights like hell, coastal waters, in late march, then my money is on Steelhead too.

Betcha its a BC farmed atlantic. Hey 270ti that buster prolly ate all the dollys while it swims around waiting for our salmon fry to migrate out.
Now then surely you landed this fish, whats w/ the mystery and intrigue?

Well if you are fishing the Kenai they are likely Silvers.. As their are only 6-8 weeks that their are not adult silvers in the Kenai.

    My Gawd man!!
    Thats a hen steelhead!
We need an emergency order to shut down all coastal sport fishing! At least until we can get a scale sample to type genetic composition to determine stream of origin.
After all this may be the last spawner returning to the chahalis river! The esteemed fishnphysician will have none of it!

After further photo review the lower jaw does appear to resemble a rainbow/ steelhead kype.

Now that's funny! I could tell you the stream of origin, but I kinda like having it all to myself right now. I'm on a mission to sore lip all the steelies before the tourists show up.

But, I do carefully release all my steelhead, despite have a subsistence permit in my pocket. I just can't bring myself to bonk one, despite how good it might taste on my grill.

Pretty funny 270! I don't think I've even been more jealous of anything right now. I spent my day standing on an ice shelf over a non-anadromous stream moving beams around for a suspension bridge.

Nice fish and I hope to be able to get a shot at one of those pretty soon.

    Salty steelhead? Nice

    Looks like it's already spawned
I choose to fly fish, not because its easy, but because its hard.
