Default Compilation of old threads on the Upper Kenai, rainbows, beads fishing, etc...

I just found out my best friend will be joining me at Fishapalooza this Sept on the Upper Kenai. In an effort to bring my buddy up to speed, I went through many old posts searching for the most relevant info on flyfishing the Upper Kenai. Much of the emphasis is on beads, flies for bows, how to fish a bead, flyfishing in Sept, appropriate rods, etc... Thought this info would be useful to others so I thought I would share the links here in one thread.

Dan... this thread is worthless without a detailed summary of each link, discussing included subject matter and key points. If you're going to do something, don't half-ass it! Some people don't have all day to kill cruising through random links.

These two fellas are gonna have to float in the same boat one day. Carrie is welcome to float with me. Then, she can focus on fishing instead of acting as a referee

Better yet, I say the four of us load up in the same boat with two cases of beer and just see what happens

Did you get a Pee Zipper in your waders?

I can't float with any Gucci guys who have a pee zipper in waders

Setting down your hand cannon does open you up to a few seconds of death potential from the horrendous brown fuzzies.

JK, let's do it. We may have to bring a smoker as I get hungry after a day of drinking beer. Anybody around here have one available for a float?

Got it covered man. No zipper or hand cannon needed this year. Well, not for the Kenai at any rate. It is a well known fact that there are few bears in that area. To be on the safe side, I got a Glock 10mm with a Desantis leather shoulder holster. Like you, I feel uncomfortable sitting my gun down on the ground while I take a piss. The shoulder holster was the obvious choice. As a side benefit, the holster/gun will be concealed under my fly vest so I won't make all the treehuggers nervous. Well, no more nervous than usual.

Firearms are like freak flags...Let 'em fly....

It is legal, it is an appropriate area to do so....Anyone feels less than a warm fuzzy because I am packing in Bear Country may happily bob the knob as far as I care....

    10mm eh Dan?

Well......Maybe there is time to call Simms back and tell em ya DO need that zipper on the waders.....

....But that but needs to be sewn on the stern instead....

Well put and inspiring Mr. Hippie, but unlike you I feel an innate pressure to adhere to the societal norms and expectations placed upon me. I can't imagine doing or saying anything that would ruffle anyone's feathers. I have always been a bit timid by nature, but hope one day to grow out of my shell. It is a process, life that is. Some of us grow and blossum faster than others as evidenced by your audacious dialogue. The rest of us just have to keep on trying. One foot in front of the other my friend. One foot in front of the other. Hell, I still pee on myself during thunder storms. Just the other week we were camping out for Jonas Brothers tickets and a big storm came in. It was downright embarrassing. You can only hide accidents like this to an extent with a fanny pack.

If we all get in a raft, I'll be on sticks. That way, when one of you two goes overboard.....sweeper

Dan, thank you for supporting all the fly fishing manufacturers. More consumption leads to more choices and better quality.
