I just got home from little mom and pop gun shop in Monroe Iowa. A few days ago I stopped in there on the way through and was overcome by a little 799 mini mauser in 222. The price tag said $400 and I eat the tax. I gave him the only 50 in my wallet and told him I'd be back in a few days with the rest. When I went to pick it up he let me have it for $375 because he had offered it to someone else at that price. That honesty won him a customer for as long as he has a store.
The 799 is not a true mauser in that it has a Sako style extractor rather than a claw but I'm thrilled none the less.
